ABOUT THE SCHOOL Dame Alice Owen's School is a grant maintained mixed secondary day school for pupils aged 11-18. It is situated on a 34 acre green site on the southern borders of PottersBar in Hertfordshire, about 15 miles north of London. The school, whose origins in Islington began in 1613, opened on its present site in 1973. The buildings and facilities include teaching blocks, specialist areas, sports hall and a floodlit all-weather sports centre. The Edinburgh Centre, provided by the trustees of the school, the Worshipful Company of Brewers, is an up-to-date Information Technology centre. The school has been granted Language College status from September 1997, and will benefit from a new Sixth Form and Language centre, equipped with multimedia computers, which is currently under construction. The school has an admission number of 200 and a total roll of 1300. |
